I loved Paris My Sweet, I’ve read it twice. I enjoyed this book as well, until she has her baby. It irritated me how many times she used the word peanut to describe her daughter instead of using her name! She talked about so much that was personal, but couldn’t say her name. She used her name in her blog, Parker, why not in the book. Really Amy, go back and count the Peanuts!
I loved this book! It's so relatable as well as being informative and just plain fun to read. Amy takes you on her journey of finding the life she wasn't entirely sure existed for her, and it's a journey so many can relate to in this time. It can also be a great resource if you're visiting NY, or just thinking about it, since it offers lists and information/history about some of the best places for dining or casual treats in the NYC area. It's a quick read and a fun ride!
This is a terrific sequel to Paris, My Sweet! With Brooklyn and the NYC restaurant scene as the backdrop, Amy shares the ups and downs of the next chapter of her life - from meeting and marrying her soulmate to having a baby and juggling her career. It is fun, warm and honest - I read it in one afternoon! The insights on eating and drinking in Manhattan and Brooklyn are terrific bonus material.
I devoured Brooklyn in Love in one sitting. Amy Thomas writes with an authenticity that is both beguiling and ingenuous. I found myself taking notes on where to eat (in Brooklyn & New York) and what to say to my partner of 14 years who is confused by my independence. It is a story of found love and falling in love. I highly recommend Brooklyn in Love to anyone searching for their next perfect meal or their perfect life partner.
Love, love, love this book. I purchased the kindle edition, but appreciated a physical copy in hand because I carried it with me for a couple of weeks! Amy Thomas’ story is heartwarming & very relatable. Who doesn’t love a tale of fate in careers, marriage, family & delicious finds in Brooklyn. Life is truly filled with surprises & the ending is always the best part.
I have been waiting to know what happens next after reading "Paris My Sweet" This book had me laughing, smiling, and crying all the way to the end. I could relate to Amy Thomas's story in so many ways. A great read to all those who are searching for themselves and finding the ​confidence that they are exactly where they need to be right now. Bravo!
I really felt the brother-in-law character was under-developed. Would like to have learned more about him. But that aside, Brooklyn In Love is perfect sequel to Paris My Sweet. Amy Thomas delightfully captures the zeitgeist of falling in love at the beginning of the 21st century in a place as strange as Brooklyn.
Loved the story and the intertwining of food! Well written.Super cute how she called her daughter “Peanut.â€Recommended if you like a slow burn.
