Everything I need to know about using alcohol inks. This is the revised edition and I purchased both because I am learning a lot. Just a beginner so I need a lot of help which I get here. Lots of tips and tricks. Even if you are not a novice I think you will find this an invaluable book. Beautiful illustrations with detailed instructions for creating works of art. Am enjoying and recommend highly.

I should begin by stating I am not an artist. I've very recently been experimenting with abstract art and art journaling using watercolors, but I saw a review of this book and was intrigued to learn more about the use of alcohol inks. My book arrived yesterday, and I was impressed from the moment I started reading through it. The author/artist does an exceptional job of explaining this art form and I particularly like her attitude regarding process over product when approaching art. I was so impressed with this book, I actually ordered a second copy for my sister who happens to be an artist with a Masters Degree in Art Education. I'm eager to hear her reaction to this book, but I'm guessing it will be similar to mine. I am hoping to transform an area of my garage into a small studio area for my blossoming interest in watercolor (and now alcohol inks) as art mediums. The book is full of examples presented by a variety of artists working with alcohol inks and the photos are both inspiring and beautiful. Instructions for exploring alcohol inks are clearly explained and the author's enthusiasm is contagious. I would highly recommend this volume for both the established artist AND the person new to painting or expressing themselves via art.

Love this book - my introduction into alcohol inks. Thanks for your open sharing of fun techniques - so far I've tried only a few and I love it.

Excellent quality; detailed to some extend. Full of ideas and step-by-steps. The only complain I have is that the authors do not mention what type of materials they are using. Yes, they do tell you the different types/brands of inks, but for example on page 75 where "reserving shapes with laminate" is discussed, it is not explained what type of laminate I am to use. What exactly is stick-on laminate? Where can I find it? I searched here on Amazon and nothing showed up. Perhaps for another person it is obvious what type of material this is, but for me (a total beginner) it is not.Another example is on page 82 where the technique of "masking fluid resist" is discussed. The chapter does give the definition of masking fluid (a liquid plastic-type substance that may be applied to cover or reserve areas), but where do I find it? Where do you buy it?So many things here are like that. You will need to make a list as you read to go online hoping to find what the artists used.Other than that, this book is perfect for beginners like me.

I'm new to painting with alcohol inks (both free form and with brushes) so for months was looking at websites, tutorials, etc. on the internet to help me. I came across this book and it has been super helpful in understanding just how much you can work this medium. For me it was worth every penny to add it to my home library. Lots of information and photos on the different techniques. Kudos to the artist who produced the book.

This is a great book for crafters, painters, woodworkers, or anyone wanting to create unique, colorful objects. These inks can be used on almost any kind of surface. Glass, glossy paper, plastic, metal ceramics, acrylic, and fabrics. The inks come in sets that compliment each other and can be mixed together to form other colors. With primary colors, blue, red and yellow, any color can be made. However it may be easier to buy the sets.There are 37 projects available in this book. Directions are easy to follow and all supplies are listed. Many are items you may already have. Most items are inexpensive, therefore starting to work with alcohol inks is not a big investment. After making some of the projects in this book, I am now using alcohol ink on lace I purchased at the fabric store.

This book is mostly concentrated on teaching techniques for using alcohol inks, especially for fine arts, and while it describes how to do the techniques, it doesn't follow a typical DIY formula where specific crafts are made. It doesn't have instructions for any thing you might make using the alcohol ink designs. For that reason I think it would be most useful for people who already use alcohol inks and are looking for some new ways to create patterns. If that's who you are, I think this is an excellent book--lots of ideas and innovative techniques.

Wonderful book that shows how to use alcohol inks. There are not a lot of books on the market for this medium yet but this one covers a lot of information and techniques on how to use alcohol inks. It has beautiful step by step techniques includes It is very inspiring.

What fun I had with the techniques in this book and playing with the Yupo paper. I'm more of a realist so this was a real stretch for me, but I loved it. Using a straw and blowing through it to create flowers?! Magical.
