About the Author
Frances Worthington is a writer who loves libraries, gardens, and interfaith exploration. A graduate of Duke University with a master's in Library Science, she is also a master gardener and former chair of the Interfaith Forum in Greenville, South Carolina. My husband is a Baha'i, and this book has taught me some wonderful facts about the faith. We are raising our children to be Bahai's, and I certainly need to know more about it in order to guide them. So far, its great! The size is a little awkward in my hands, but that's a small price to pay for the knowledge within.
Beautifully organized by theme, with short, meaningful explanations on the topics.
This is an excellent book for anyone interested in knowing more about the Baha'i Faith
Good beginner's book.
It is a good book, but a bit simple. I would like some more historyand some more information about all the empires that fell.
That basics of the book are pretty basic, which is just what I was looking for. I guess I just put four stars because I am actually a Christian man seeking to find out about the Bahai' religion to learn how to work a little better with those of that religion.
When I heard there was a new book with basic info on the Baha'i Faith, my first thought was how big is this book going to be...? I've been a Baha'i for more than 10 years, and there is so much to learn about it, I wondered how it was all going to fit into a regular-sized book. I was pleased to find that despite the brevity (the book is less than 200 pages even if you count the appendices and bibliography, and the typeface is nice and big) I could not find a single thing that the author left out that I felt was important enough to include.This is a great resource for people who don't have much time to read but who want to know enough of the practical details to be well-informed about the emerging phenomenon that is the Baha'i Faith. It's written in a question-and-answer style that makes it easy to skip around and focus on the topics you're most interested in. I think it will be very useful for teachers, social workers, politicians, neighbors, family members and friends of Baha'is, and people of any religion who are interested in the Interfaith movement.I have to admit I was surprised and disappointed to find a couple of typos in the book. This is the first Baha'i book I've read where I've come across that. Other than that, I think the author did a good job of presenting the basics of the Faith in an objective manner, and by including plenty of quotes from the Baha'i Writings in context of the Q&A framework, there is still plenty of 'meat' in the book... and not a trace of fat.NikiDI received this book free from the Baha'i Publishing Trust through its Bloggers Network book review program. This is my first time learning about religion, so this helped me break things down and not have so much 'scripture' all at once
