I openly admit that I've loved each and every brooch book, however this one brought tears to my eyes repeatedly. More than once I could feel the crack start within my heart. Filled with some of the greatest men from history, like Jefferson, Hamilton and Washington....combined with the lore of these magical brooches, the loves of those that had already walked it's path. This time it's Sophie and Pete's turn to test the tides of time. Hey all the others, this one is the bumpiest ride yet. Filled with players from previous books, children growing up, and lots of Elliott at his finest. Yet again this series just continue to get better and better. I got one am already wishing for the in this exciting series!
I've read and reread all 8 of the Brooch novels. Katherine Lowry Logan is by far the best"time travel" author I've read! Believe me, I've read them all. I'm a voracious reader and I'm always looking for new books and trying other authors. I also look for the best value, ie the cost of the ebook and how many pages, because I want to be able to reread it if I really like it. Ms Logan's Brooch series has never disappointed me. I love the characters and the history woven into each book. She can't write them fast enough for me and this 9th book was exceptional! Thank you and keep them coming!
Once more, Ms. Logan brought history to life. Sophia time-travels back to the French Revolution and finds herself in the middle of the rioters. The book is non stop action; therefore, very hard to put down. The history is well researched. Ms. Logan writes the story making me feel I am with with Sophie as she travels during the 18th century. The other story involves Kevin and JL and the premature birth of their son. I felt like I was with the family as they were going through this heart breaking time. I enjoyed the well written story and look forward to when it is on Audible.
I have loved all of the brooch books. This one had allot of history in it around Thomas Jefferson, which I enjoyed. I was surprised that the lead character was going to marry him but I think at the time she thought she was trapped in the past and I think she was more in love with the idea of what her life would be like married to Jefferson. I did love how she ended the book. There was a huge gap with baby Lawrence as a preemie being so ill to getting better and being able to go home-especially when most of the book was back and forth with the two stories and then we did not read much more about the baby til the conclusion chapter. I gave 5 stars instead of 4 because the author does allot of historical research-and the series is just so fun to read. I always look forward to the next one
I’m not good at reviewing books. I don’t like when a review tells me about the story. So I don’t do that . What I can tell you is , once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. Once I finished I was ready to start again, so I could pick up on all I missed the first time . And I can’t wait to get the audio book so all the characters have a voice.Score another win for The Pearl Brooch!!
The PearI Brooch is another fantastic story in this series! The in depth look at our past public people in history makes you want to get out the history books and do more research on them. The writer lets you feel the strong emotions the characters are feeling. You can actually see the vivid detail in Sophia's paintings. This story pulls you in deeply and you laugh, love, and learn and feel a little sad at times.I woul have liked to read more of the two soul mates, but I always would like more from this author. Great story! Great writing! Can't wait for next year's new Brooch book. Love this seies.
I have loved Katherine Lowry Logan's work from the first page of her first book. Each work is amazing yet this book The Pearl Brooch is breathing in its stories and it's characters. It was deeply moving following her preparation for this novel, filled with anticipation for how would this amazing author tie it all together. I can close my eyes and hear John Meacham's words come alive. I savored this book - for I didn't want it to end - but alas it did because there are many more brooches and many more stories from this magnificent author Katherine Lowry Logan to be told.
The Brooch stories just continue to absorb the reader! The research involved lends so much authentic color, and a feel for the life of the characters, that the reader is drawn in and held in awe until the last page. This book is #9 in the series, Thomas Jefferson is a fascinating man and Catherine Lowery Logan did an exceptional job of fleshing out his personality. I highly recommend reading this book and the preceeding books in this series! I hope there are many more brooches to be found and adventures to be experienced.
