I liked everything. Even when our heroin was coming West alone. Then this wounded cowboy fell off his horse right in front of her gate. Only thing she could do was drag him inside and help him heal from his wounds. After finally getting him back on his feet everything went south. You could always do as I did, I got the book and read it. When I'm done here I'm going back to start reading it again. Get your copy and see if I am right!! Try it you'll like it. I an right, I'm BOB
I enjoy reading historical westerns. This one starts out with a vividly intense Civil War scene, then heads to Texas where one of our main characters, after the horrors of war and injury, is faced with loss and disappointment. We experience kidnapping, gun fights, buried treasure—and a love story that is woven throughout. The characters are well-developed, and though the book is a bit slow in the beginning, it becomes hard to put down. I received an ARC copy of this book and am happy to give it 5 stars!
Stark, raw writing that's entertaining (post Civil War historical). Ross believes his family all dead; yet a young girl's sweet little face looks the image of his ma. Characters were sometimes emotionally engaging and at other times stilted. Reminds me of tv westerns, which l like! (Though this is more bloody and gory. Would like more romantic gestures.)
Ross got home from the war to find his family destroyed by a gang of cut throats. The gang worked on the farm his family had owned when he went to war. The new owner did not know of their treachery.A good story line and characters, I personally did not like the profanity.
The plot was well written and well planned and the characters were so strongly written that I was totally engaged as I turned each and every page of this amazing book! This was the first book that I have read by this author, however, it definitely will not be the last!
I loved this book! Action packed, strong characters and great story. The best thing is the story moves along nicely (not repeating facts over & over again). Very well written. I can’t say enough about this book. Just read it.
Enjoyed this book, lots of unexpected twists and turns throughout. So much disappointment for the main character, Ross, but there is a happy ending! Well written, first book I’ve read by this author, looking forward to more in the future.
